A Registrar and Transfer Agent maintains investor records on behalf of mutual fund houses and companies. CAMS and KFintech together handle most of the Indian mutual fund market's record-keeping.

Updating a bank account, changing an address, or downloading consolidated statements across several fund houses at once usually goes through an RTA rather than the fund house directly, since the RTA is the one holding the actual investor data.
