Liabilities
Reviewed by FOLO Editorial · Last reviewed August 6, 2026
Liabilities are everything a person owes: home loans, car loans, education loans, personal loans, credit card dues and any borrowing from family. Only the outstanding balance counts, not the original amount borrowed.
Liabilities are subtracted from assets to arrive at Net Worth. A ₹50 lakh home loan with ₹30 lakh still outstanding contributes ₹30 lakh to liabilities, not ₹50 lakh.
