Your next loan application might move a little faster — or land with a slightly better rate.
RBI just pumped ₹1 lakh crore into the banking system through what's called a repo auction — basically, extra cash for banks to lend with, right as festive loan demand picks up.
This is RBI's biggest such move since July 29, when it did the same thing.
What this means for you
- If you're shopping for a home, car or personal loan this festive season, banks have more room to say yes — and compete a little harder for your business.
- On a ₹30 lakh home loan, even a 0.1% rate dip could shave off about ₹200 from your monthly EMI.
- Your FD rates probably won't move much from this alone — this is about loan supply, not deposit rates.
What you can do
- If you've got a loan EMI due or planned this festive season, check if your bank has revised its rates before you sign anything.
- Saving for a down payment? This is a good window to compare offers across 2-3 banks.
Nothing changes in your account today — but your next loan conversation just got a little more in your favour.
