Every year, HR hands you a document called Form 16 — and most people file it away unread. That's a mistake, because this single form decides whether you get a refund of ₹15,000 or end up owing the tax department money.
Form 16 has two parts: Part A shows the TDS your employer deducted (say, ₹48,000 for the year), and Part B shows your salary breakup, exemptions, and deductions claimed.
If these numbers don't match what you actually invested — like a ₹1.5 lakh PPF contribution you forgot to declare — your refund calculation goes wrong.
Reading Form 16 properly, instead of just uploading it, is the difference between a refund that works for you and tax you never needed to pay.
